Pacific welcomes new College of the Pacific dean

Dean Lee Skinner was immediately drawn to the energy at University of the Pacific when she first stepped onto the Stockton Campus.

She joined the university earlier this month as dean of College of the Pacific, the university’s liberal arts school and largest college.

“I was attracted to the students’ passion for their education and the diversity of the student body,” Skinner said. “Getting to be part of the largest college at Pacific with such a diversity of intellectual and academic interests is also exciting."

Skinner most recently was dean of Newcomb-Tulane College at Tulane University. She also previously served as associate dean at Claremont McKenna College.

Food: The blue corn tlacaoyos I had once on a street corner in downtown Mexico City. I could never find those vendors again, alas.

Hobby or interest: Postcrossing.com (a project that allows people to send and receive postcards from around the world)

Surprising skill: I used to do Taekwondo and could break a board with my foot. I think the surprising thing there is it’s very easy to do if you hit it the right way.
